Kerala spicy BDF / Spicy Beef Dry Fry
Some dishes can be prepared only by an experienced chef .. This was my attitude but later I realized that If there is passion for cooking, nothing is a rocket Science.
Once my hubby brought BDF at home and he challenged me whether I can prepare Beef Dry Fry. I took the challenge and researched for recipe and prepared, But he commented “Not up to level👎 ”

If I wish to prepare the same dish again, I need to check for those recipes which I tried last time. It require too much ingredients and colours which we dont use in our regular dishes. As per my opinion, dishes need to be healthy other than being attractive. So I thought it is better to prepare a simple BDF.
So, Let’s go for a try.
Ingredients.
- Meat – 1 kg
- Chilly – 6 Nos
- Ginger – 3 inch
- Garlic – 12 cloves
- Small Onions - 10 Nos
- Salt – to taste
- Garam Masala – 1 tsp
- Chilly powder – 1 tsp
- Pepper Powder - 1 tsp
- Turmerci Powder – ½ tsp
- Vinegar – 2 tsp
- Curry Leaf – required
- Oil – ½ Cup
Preparation.
Wash and clean beef thoroughly and cut into small pieces as cubic in shape. Add salt, a part of ginger and green chilly , and a little well . pressure cook it until it nicely cook .
Once it is done, drain away stock from the cooked beef. This stock can be added later in potato curry / Stew which will enhance its taste.
Take a pan , pour oil and when hot, start frying beef as batches until it become little crispy. Take care that beef don’t get over fried which will make it hard. Finish up frying all cooked beef and keep it aside.
Remove extra oil from the pan keeping a little for sauting masala. Add Chopped Onions, garlic , ginger and saute well until it lose tenderness. Add spices including Garam masala, Chilly Powder , pepper powder and turmeric powder and saute well.
Add fried beef into masala and mix well and let be in low flame for few mintues. Once masala get merged with fried beef, add 2 tsp of vinegar, saute well . Add curry leaf for that special aroma ...
